Helmut Schmidt of Ponoka, Alberta passed away on Sunday November 20, 2022 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by Heidi, his wife of 58 years (his Schatz for longer yet); his daughter and son-in-law Sabine; Dan McDougall; and his grandson Max Hall – of whom he could not have been prouder; his sister Hilde Feldberg and her family; as well as extended family and friends in Germany and Canada. As per Helmut’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. However, a gathering to celebrate his life will take place in early 2023.
