December 7, 1931 – January 30, 2022
It is with great sorrow to announce the peaceful passing of Helen in Brantford, Ontario, passing away on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Loving wife of Michael (Mike) for 67 years, caring mother of Janet Sparks, Susan Schroeder (Brian) and the late David Filipchuk (Mary). Grandchildren Sarah (Ben), Lindsay (Shelby), Candice (Brendon), Brayden, David (Leah), Chris (Kara), Camberlyn and great-granddaughter Nora. Born in Plympton N.S., Helen is survived by her brother Harvey and predeceased by her parents Perle and Dora, siblings Blanche, Nancy, Dorthy, Elizabeth, Carl, Harley and Robert. Helen came to Ontario in 1953 and met the love of her life Michael in Toronto at a dance. After marrying they then moved their family to Brantford in 1963 to raise their family. Helen was a retiree of SC Johnson working hard to save for the trips she loved to take. For over 20 years Helen and Mike spent their winters in Aruba. They enjoyed their time with a wonderful group of friends from all over the world spending their days on the beach under the Divi Divi trees. Helen will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her. A private funeral service will held at the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road North, Brantford on Friday, February 4, 2022. Covid restrictions require those attending to wear masks and practice social distancing. Interment at Oakhill Cemetery. If wished, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation gratefully appreciated.
