Obituary
Garrett, Helen Marguerite – The family of the late Helen Garrett, 91, of Melvern Square and recently Parkland Clayton Park, announces with great sadness the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on September 26, 2022. Helen passed peacefully with her dearly loved daughter and son-in-law at her side.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Edmund Mitchell (Ted), who left us fifteen months ago to the day, on June 26, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Rita & Carl Dares and sister of the late Graham Dares.
She will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her daughter Karen Cormier and son-in-law Dan; son Ted Garrett (Tammi); former daughter-in-law Christine MacKenzie; her grandchildren Carolyn Garrett, Peter Garrett (Elissa), Christopher Cormier (Ashley) and James Cormier; four great grandchildren; and nephews, Keith Dares (Cathy) and Grant Dares (Sandra).
Our mother will be remembered as an elegant and strong woman with an amazing sense of style. Mom had a wonderful life, enjoying extensive travels and making beautiful homes and memories in Mississippi, California, Nova Scotia and later years in Florida. Her most joyful times were spent with her loving family at the old farmhouse in Melvern Square.
We would like to express our sincere thanks for the support received at the Valley Hospice. We would also like to thank Dr. Valerie Lewis, the staff and friends at Aberdeen Hall at Parkland Clayton Park. There will no visitation at Helen’s request. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s name may be made to the Valley Hospice Foundation, 150-3 Exhibition St., Kentville, NS B4N 5E3.
