Obituary
It is with profound sadness we must announce the passing of Joyce Hilton (Nee-Ward) peacefully from complications of pancreatic cancer.
Joy was born in Cumberland BC to parents Harold and Ellen Ward of Union Bay BC. Joy lived in Union Bay her entire life and loved her home and community. Joy would share fond memories of her childhood and family and of catching the train to meet her father (Pop) for lunch in Buckley Bay,
In 1960 she married Norm Hilton, and her daughter Mary was born soon after. Joy was a hard worker who enjoyed gardening and was a devoted Avon representative for most of her life. Joy loved to bake and really loved to watch you eat her tasty treats and all who came to have tea and goodies would leave with a feeling of warmth and a yearning to come back soon.
Joy adored the company of children and the children adored Joy it was always fun to stay with “Auntie Joy.” When Joy became a grandmother, it was her greatest delight in her life. “Nanny” beamed every time when speaking of her grandsons and was proud of them in all their accomplishments.
Joy’s life was preceded by her husband Norm, brother Jack, sister Dorothy. Joy is survived by daughter Mary (Jim), grandson’s Jordan (Christine), Joshua (Vanessa), brother Dick and (Joyce) and many nieces and nephews, and surrogate grandchildren Wade and Jessa Tantrum. A special thank you to her family and friends, Dr Daws and all the health care professionals that supported us during this difficult time.
I could not have had a better Mom than you. Love Mary.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Helen Joy Joyce Ward Hilton August 30 1940 November 3 2022 (age 82)..
