Helen (Ellen) Taylor Collison Olsen
1924-2022
It is with much sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that the
family of Ellen Olsen of McAdam, NB announce that she passed away on
June 27, 2022 at Wauklehegan Manor. She was born in Edinburg,
Scotland on December 24, 1924.
She married her husband, a Canadian soldier in Scotland and in 1946
arrived on the Queen Mary as a war bride at Pier 21 with three young
children and boarded a train to Fredericton, NB where they resided
until they moved to McAdam, NB in 1955 where her husband was stationed
at St. Croix as a Customs Officer.
Mom was well known for her community involvement and loved McAdam and
its residents. For the last 10 years, as a result of declining
health, she lived with her daughter Sharon in Hanwell, hoping to be
able to return home to McAdam.
Ellen is survived by four children Emil Olsen (Margot), Quispamsis,
NB, Alec Olsen, McAdam, NB, Sharon Jordan, Hanwell, NB and Robin Olsen
(Eve), Harvey, NB; grandchildren, Melody Mayberry (Duncan), Tim Olsen,
Tiffany Baston (Geoff), Rob Olsen (Linda), Dave Olsen, Rhonda Gosse
(Roger), Jillian Jordan (Derek Weaver), Taylor Jordan (Yolandra),
Scott Olsen (Katie) and Bryan Olsen (Allie); a grandson-in-law Paul
Palmer; eleven great grandchildren and four great great
grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Emil Olsen; her daughter-in-law
Bonnie Olsen and her granddaughter Crystal Palmer.
A graveside service will be held at Rockland Cemetery, McAdam, NB on
Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 4 pm with Rev. Alan Beck officiating.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Ellen, the family
has suggested the RCL McAdam Branch #7, Wauklehegan Manor or charity
of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Wauklehegan Manor
for the exceptional care they provided during mom’s short
stay.
