It is with great sadness that the family of Heidi Jean
MacLean (nee Biberdorf) of Hanwell NB, announce her passing on May 4,
2022, at the age of 54 after a courageous nine-month battle with
cancer.
Heidi was born on April 4, 1968, in Murrayville BC. She led a
happy childhood, exploring many BC communities to which her father, an
RCMP officer, was transferred. The family finally settled in Kamloops
where Heidi spent her teen years. Her artistic talents were apparent
from childhood. Whether it was drawing, painting, photography,
sculpting, or other mediums, Heidi’s artistic ability was a
gift she cherished. She had a great love for animals, in particular
dogs; they were a major source of her artistic inspiration. Though
satisfied with spending hours at a table for her art, she also loved
the outdoors, often adventuring into the hills and mountains of
Kamloops with her dog. Once, when her cousin Tara came to visit, Heidi
insisted they go barefoot into the hills to toughen up their feet for
the summer. She continued this love of outdoors into adulthood, no
matter the season – hiking, snowshoeing, or just out for a
walk with her children or her sister Wendi.
In 1989, while returning from Kingston ON, after acting as a
nanny for her nephew Matthew Lemna (predeceased), Heidi boarded a Via
Rail train bound across Canada. There she met her husband to be,
Peter. They married in 1991 in Vancouver BC. Over the years, Heidi
welcomed with joy, her children and made homes in Burnaby, Kamloops,
Calgary, Edmonton, and finally Hanwell NB. Heidi was a beloved wife
and loving mother; whose children came first in her life. She will be
remembered for her faith, love, humility, humour, and artistic talent.
In life, she led her family by holy example, always offering
unconditional love and forgiveness. Over the last few years Heidi
volunteered her time at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in New
Maryland.
Heidi is survived by her husband of 31 years, Mr. Peter James
MacLean, and their nine children: Julia, Erika, John, Megan (Jamey)
Guerrero, Anna, Stephen, Mary, Maureen, and James; along with their
granddaughter Monica. Heidi also leaves to mourn her parents, Vern and
Laura Biberdorf of Kamloops BC and her siblings: Christine (Boyd)
Lemna, Wendi Biberdorf, and Kurt (Amber) Biberdorf, along with many
nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and Godchildren.
Heidi will be greatly missed by her family, her students,
many friends, and her faith community.
If you wish to make a donation in Heidi’s honour,
donations to L’Arche
Fredericton or Our
Lady of Grace School (non-charity), would be gratefully
accepted.
