Obituary of Hector James MacGregor
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our brother, Hector James MacGregor, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on April 7.
Hector was born in Inverness on September 24, 1948, to the late James P. & Marion M. (Busby) MacGregor.
Hector was very gifted in speaking with people; he enjoyed his career choices, from being a driver with Lanes Bakery, Metropolitan Life, then onto being a travelling salesman, finally closer to retirement he chose being manager for a taxi company both in Truro and New Glasgow.
He was active in the community where he lived, volunteering with the Royal Canadian Legion (Stellarton Branch) the Heart & Stroke Foundation for Pictou County. He also served with the Workers Compensation Board on the dispute resolution panel.
Surviving are his siblings; sisters, Sarah MacGillivray of Abercrombie and Mary MacGregor of New Glasgow. Brothers, Bob, Pictou; Richard (Lynn), Riverton; Donald (Bev), Pleasant Valley; Norman (Carole), Innisfail, Alberta; Jim (Robin), Lower Sackville; Ed (Carolyn), Truro, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Hugh, in infancy.
Cremation has taken place, a private family funeral to take place at H.W. Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow, on April 22 at 11am with burial in the Stewartdale Cemetery, Inverness County.
There will also be a Celebration of Life held at the Royal Canadian Legion (Stellarton Branch) from noon until 2pm.
The family wish to thank the nurses and staff from ICU for their excellent care & compassion they provided during his final days
