Heather’s Obituary
With family and dear friends always active in support, Heather Powell finished this part of her journey at the Brantford General Hospital, on Thursday, February 10, 2022. She was 84 years of age. Predeceased by her beloved husband Murray Powell (2018). Cherished mother of Beverley Powell (Jonathan Vinden), Jeff Powell (Donna), Stephanie Nolson (Ken) and Timothy Powell. Loved grandmother of Jacqueline Vinden, Nicholas Vinden, Kylee Dailey, Chas Nolson, Naomi Nolson, Amma Nolson, Max McBride, and Corbin McBride. Proud great-grandmother of Nash and Nora Dailey. Heather also deeply loved her canine and feline companions Vida and Mel. Heather will be dearly missed by her extended family, many dear friends and former colleagues and students.
Heather spent decades teaching with the Grand Erie District School Board. Her students would constantly reference her outside-the-box approach and her incredibly caring heart. With Murray she also expressed this creativity and care outside of school by impacting youth through coaching and mentoring, their leadership of Fair Glen Youth Camp and Saturday Morning Girls Basketball, and their community advocacy for health care in Paris. In her later years, she was a regular helper at Grace Church’s Teen Lunch Drop-In. Many in the south end of town will remember Heather as a fixture for years delivering their newspapers, while all who knew her will remember her delivery of wit, love of sports, enthusiasm for life, and passion for people.
