Hazel Margaret Newton nee Linden 2022

Hazel Margaret Newton (nee Linden)
March 6, 1930 – July 7, 2022
Hazel was born in Atwater, SK to Nelly and Gustav Linden. After Grade 12 she worked with disabled children in Saskatoon. She married the love of her life, Howard on October 21, 1953, and they raised six children in Biggar, SK. Hazel was a skilled homemaker, crafter, baker, gardener and lifelong animal lover. She volunteered with many cooperative community projects in support of health and education and spent numerous hours advocating for the causes she believed in. These included leadership roles within Girl Guides, United Church and Community Clinic. “Retirement” included operating a day home, building a home with Howard at Turtle Lake, and eventually returning to their roots in Biggar. She created welcoming, loving, playful homes wherever she landed. Family remained her pride and joy. She is survived by her life partner Howard, her children: Judy (Leon), Janice, Murray (Margie), Cheryl (Roger), Donna (Murray) and Linda (Kelly) along with 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. We know she has been welcomed with open arms and puppy dog kisses by many loved ones who were awaiting her in Heaven. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to an animal rescue: We All Need a Rescue (WANAR) K9 Rescue or any Saskatchewan SPCA.

  1. I was saddened to learn of Hazel’s passing. She was a beautiful, kind lady with unending patience. We enjoyed time spent with Hazel & Howard, as our parents shared many ideals & beliefs. I imagine they are visiting once again, as Hazel joins Mom & Dad.
Our thoughts & prayers are with you all as you say your final farewells, knowing that Hazel’s life is one to truly celebrate.
    Sending our sympathy & love.
