Obituary
Passed peacefully away at the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion (long term care), Carbonear, on Thursday, August 4th, 2022, Hazel Legge of Cavendish, aged 83 years.
Predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Edith; parents-in-law, Arthur and Amelia; sister, Ruby; brothers-in-law, Doug, Reg, Leslie, Charlie, and Clarence; and sister-in-law, Maxine.
Leaving to mourn with cherished memories, husband of 61 years, David; her pride and joy, children, Geoff (Angela), Janice (Dean), Shawn (Alison) and Dwayne (Niki); precious grandchildren, Adam (Cynthia), Cory, David (Alicia), Catherine, Amelia, Charlotte, Emma and Avery; great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Aria; brother, Hayward (Ruby), sister, Emily (Vincent) and special sister, Rosalind; brothers-in-law, Ronald and Neville (Violet); sisters-in-law, Janet, Norma and Minnie; as well as a large circle of family and friends.
Hazel was a kind and loving woman who, together with her husband David, made a loving home for their family wherever their journeys led. She was well known for her cooking, baking, and love of a good game of cards. Hazel was devoted to her faith and family, instilling a strong sense of family values and pride in her children’s accomplishments.
The family wish to extend their gratitude to Dr. Kay and nursing staff of 4 North. Also thank you to her dedicated homecare support staff.
Honoring Hazel’s request, cremation will follow the family viewing.
Resting at the Church of the Epiphany, Hearts Delight-Islington with visitation on Monday, August 8, 3:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm.
A service to celebrate Hazel’s life will be held from the Church of the Epiphany on Tuesday, August 9 at 11:00 am with inurnment to be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery, Heart’s Content.
The family kindly requests that masks be worn for both the visitation and the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of the Epiphany, Hearts Delight-Islington or St. Mary’s Anglican Perpetual Cemetery Fund, Hearts Content.
