Obituary
Malloy (nee Williams), Hattie H.
Our mom was strong in her faith and had no doubt that when it was her time to leave this life her soul would be bound for a much better place. It is with the deepest sorrow and profound sense of loss that we announce in the early evening of December 19, 2022, with family by her side, she passed peacefully onto that better place. Mom will be lovingly remembered and always missed by her family and many friends.
She was born May 17, 1938, to the late Errol and Maisie (Sears) Williams and is survived by sons Bob (Betty), Bill (Jill), Jeff (Beth); daughter Holly (Darius) Brasky; step daughter Lisa (Hank) Roy; sister Helen (Richard) Broughm. Her grandchildren; Brandis, Brittany, Lauren, Hannah, Brent, Adam, Liam, Lucas, Lance and great-grandchildren Addyson, Will, Sam, Abigail, Stella, and Charlotte affectionately referred to her as Nana.
Mom was pre-deceased by her older sister Pauline Swim and her younger brother Errol Leigh.
Mom/Nana was all about family and felt it was important for everyone to keep in touch, stay close and get together as much as possible. She devoted herself to her family and spent countless hours worrying about everyone but herself. She waited up at night until she knew everyone had arrived safely when she knew we were traveling somewhere. Eventually we learned not to let her know we were going anywhere until after we had arrived to save her from stressing out. Mom/Nana was proud of her family and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her so much joy and happiness.
Mom loved to cook and bake and so enjoyed the big family dinners. We will miss her signature tea rings, Christmas puddings (with hard sauce) and banana cream pies (we have tried but no one can make them as well) and calling her every time for directions on how to cook corned beef and cabbage. Mom/Nana was not much for traveling but she was persuaded to visit family in Alberta and was quite impressed by the beauty of Banff and how high the mountains were there. She was also talked into visiting New York City and could not believe how so many people could be in one place.
Prior to moving into Surf Lodge this year mom lived for a number of years at the Lockeport Seniors apartments next to her best friend Trudy Cotter. She made other close friends there and our family would like to thank all her friends there who helped her out when she needed it, looked out for her when we couldn’t be around and made her feel truly at home.
We would also like to express our warmest thanks to Carrie and Roy Macleod. Mom cherished and so looked forward to your frequent visits and regular phone calls both at her apartment and at her recent stay at Surf Lodge. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to all the caregivers and staff at Surf Lodge for such wonderful care and attention to our mother’s needs and for the kind and compassionate medical care received from the nurses and Dr. Mark Riley at Surf Lodge.
