Obituary
PARSONS, Harvey Wilson – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harvey Wilson Parsons on August 9, 2022. Harvey Passed peacefully at The Health Sciences Centre, following a brief but courageous battles with cancer, surrounded by his devoted family.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jean; and parents: Florence and Allen Parsons. Harvey leaves to mourn and lovingly remembered by daughters: Joanne (Wayne) and Susan (Orville); sons: Steven (Diane) and Scott (Karen); grandchildren: Nicole (Ryan), Samantha, Olivia, Jasmine, Ian and Mackenzie; his darling great-grandchildren: Logan, Chase, Emma, Tate and Myla; special nephew William Nixon; brother Ralph Parsons; devoted sister and best friend, Queenie Nixon, who also cared for Harvey during his final days; and a large circle of extended family and dear friends.
Harvey was born on September 29, 1936 in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland. As a young man, he met the love of his life; they married on September 14, 1961 and, together, built a happy home and a beautiful family. Employed by Dominion in his hometown for more than 40 years, Harvey was a dedicated and hard worker. As quick with a smile as with a helping hand, he was also an avid gardener who loved to tend his plants and flowers and (as anyone who knew him might report) was especially proud of his tomato crop.
After he retired, he discovered a new passion and became a gifted woodworker, blessing his children and grandchildren with furniture and toys. Each piece is now a special memory to hold onto – not just as we grieve, but as we celebrate Harvey’s exceptional life and prepare to hold him in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, and to reflect Harvey’s compassion and commitment to always help those in need, a donation may be given to Stella’s Circle on Cabot Street.
