Harry Louis Pleadwell, husband of Lillian Ann (Clancy) Pleadwell, passed away at his late residence on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the age of 77.
He was the son of Georgina (Gallan) and Weldon Pleadwell. He was born at his home in Quarryville on February 21st, 1945. He was wrapped up and laid on the oven door in the kitchen to keep warm. Harry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lillian (Clancy) and six children; Florence Esson (Frank) of South Esk, Dean (Karla) of Whitney, Clancy (Andrea) of South Esk, Kelly Ann Jardine (Darren) of Derby Junction, Heidi Doiron (Adelard) of Allison and Melanie Pleadwell (Lawson Russell) of Loggieville. He had 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He also had 3 sisters, one brother-in-law, James (Betty) Clancy of Lower Derby and one sister-in-law, Karen Pleadwell of Ontario. Harry was predeceased by his parents, his only brother Kenny of Ontario, granddaughter Mya Pleadwell and great-granddaughter Ava Power.
Harry was an entrepreneur all his life. He owned and operated Rapid Enterprise for years. He was president of the Truckers’ Association and had his own body shop for 22 years before retiring. Harry was the president of the Derby Rec Center where he spent countless hours and years volunteering.
Harry never looked for praise but was always in the background to give a helping hand. He loved a salmon on the barbecue and was very proud to be from Quarryville. He would tell you his mother was his best friend and he loved to see his relatives come home from Ontario. Harry wasn’t a religious man but he knew the Bible inside out.
So if you want to do something in Harry’s memory, put a salmon on the grill, invite your family, open a bottle of wine and enjoy life to the fullest. Life passes by too quickly.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm at St. Mark’s Cemetery, Quarryville with Reverend Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating.
In his memory, donations to Jose Foundation, NB Extra Mural or a memorial of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
