It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend, surrounded by family at the Heath Sciences Centre. We know Harry is enveloped in the love of his parents Jim and Emma, his brother Gerald, brother-in-law Robert Green, mother-in-law Gladys Marsden, brother-in-law Calvin Durnford as well as many friends.
Leaving to celebrate his life are his soulmate and best friend Una Marsden, sisters Ann Green (daughter Sandy) and Roxanne & Paul Crocker (daughters Alyssa & Emma), brothers Herb & Gertrude Cross (children Claude, Rick & Trudy), Fred & Doris Cross (children John, Joanne, Jan & Jill), Curtis Cross, Randy Cross & Brenda Healey (children April & Brian), sister-in-law’s Sheila Cross (children Gerry, Jamie & Jeffrey) and Clara Durnford, brother-in-laws Martin Marsden and Lloyd Marsden, and his good friends Rick Best, Vicky Hynes, Cyril Best and Heber Miller.
Harry was a lover of food especially fish and good old Newfie meals that he loved to share. Nothing made him happier than family and friends dropping by. His love of music started at a very early age, anything from hymns to rock and roll, he knew them all. As we all know, the Beatles was in his blood.
Harry made friends wherever he went, everyone certainly felt his love and had a laugh in his presence. He was compassionate, caring and constantly worried about family and friends, putting their needs before his own. His love of children and animals was something to be admired.
Harry was so grateful for the care he received over the last few years. He would always tell the health care professionals what a wonderful job they were doing and “I can’t believe the service I get”. Special thank you to Dr. Duffy and Dr. Rourke and their teams, the CCU nurses Anne and Chivonne, and other doctors and nurses that took great care of him throughout his stay. We appreciate you all.
Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday, July 15 from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from The Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 16 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. The service will be livestreamed. Donations in his memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society.
As Harry would say from time to time “In my life, I loved them all”.
