The family of Harry Gilfoy regret to announce his passing on August 27, 2022, at the age of 100 at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and staff. Harry was a proud, lifelong Dartmouth resident. He served in the army during WWII, and later worked at Woodlawn Dairy, Pickford and Black, and the NS Housing Commission. He attended St. James United Church and served on multiple boards and committees. He sang in the choir for over 60 years and loved to share his voice. He was a gifted painter and artist. He played trombone for Dartmouth City and Senior bands. He and his wife Vivian managed to raise four children in a two-bedroom house. Harry was predeceased by his wife Vivian (Cox), son Neville, and siblings Annie Ledger and David Gilfoy. He is survived by children, Heather, David (Liz Parker), Holly Edsall (Jim) and daughter-in-law Ann Janega. Grandchildren, Stephen Littler, Jamie Gilfoy (Bea Houston Gilfoy), Peter Gilfoy (Kayleigh Mills), Sara Edsall (Jordan Olthoff), Scott Edsall (Courtney Diotte), Brandon Gilfoy (Brooke Greenwood), and Madison Gilfoy. Great grandchildren, Anna and Sylvia Gilfoy, as well as nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation or the recipient of your choice. Arrangements to be announced at a later date.
