Obituary
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Lorne Green of St. John’s aged 74 years, announce his passing after a very brief battle with Cancer. Lorne passed peacefully on October 4, 2022, in Labrador City surrounded by his loving family. Born August 15, 1948 in Winterton, NL, he was the second born son of Edgar and Jessie (Critch) Green.
Lorne started his lengthy career in the auto glass industry with P & R Golf in the early 1970s. His experience in the field for nearly 30 years led him and his wife, Heather, to the Big Land Labrador, where they started a glass business in Labrador City that is still an active part of the business community. He had a tremendous love for the outdoors including hunting, fishing and golfing.
Leaving to mourn his son Derek (Heather), daughter Denise (Barry), five loving grandchildren Tyler, Megan, Brandon, Emma and Matthew, brothers Vernon (Lynn), Ewart (Janice), Boyd, Edgar, sisters Marina (Brian) and Janis (Laurence) and his little canine buddy Brandi. Lorne was beloved by his large circle of special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends whom he loved and cherished daily. He always had a warm welcome for anyone who visited his home and a $20 bill in his pocket!
Predeceased, just less than three months ago, by his loving wife Heather of 53 years, his parents and oldest brother Clayton.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation to be held on Tuesday October 11, 2022, at Barrett’s Funeral Home at 328 Hamilton Ave, St. John’s, NL. from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A graveside service will be held on October 12,2022 at 2pm from the Salvation Army Cemetery on Black Marsh Road, St. John’s. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society- NL division or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
His family is deeply grateful for the staff at the Labrador West Health Center during his brief illness, your care and compassion will never be forgotten.
