Harold’s Obituary
Gilroy, Harold Stevely – 89, Steeves Mountain, NB, passed away at home peacefully on January 28th, 2022. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Stevely and Lena (Gloade) Gilroy. Harold worked hard all his life. He started in the woods as a teenager, was a mechanic and did construction work. Harold trucked most of his life, mainly with Maritime-Ontario. He ran teams of horses in Centennial Park, Moncton. Harold worked on a ship and sailed the Great Lakes. He is survived by his wife, the former Effie Carter; sons, Laurie (Sandy Plante); Stevely (Brenda); Russell (Nicole Downing); Todd (Eva Jean); daughter, Linda (Jim) Trites; grandchildren, Bridgette, Russell, Jennifer, Brandon, Seamus, Liam; Scott; Tyler; great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Evan, Nora, Miller, Hendrick, Brooklyn, Grace; Brody; sisters, Evelyn Maddison; Frances Wood. He was predeceased by brothers, George and Donnie; sisters, Josephine MacMaster; Leona Patterson; Phyllis Chapman; Carol Moore. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Oxford. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Athol Cemetery. Special thanks to Murray Cruickshank, Aunt Joyce, Jackie, Nicole and all of his four boys.
