Gwendolyn Keddy
1934-2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of
our mom, Gwendolyn Keddy, on Friday, April 8,2022 surrounded by her
family. She is now flying with the doves. Born in Kingston, NS, she
was the daughter of the late Lewis and Shirley (Carey) Acker and
special granddaughter of Bessie Carey.
Mom was very proud of her family and most of all the
grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor that even showed through
during her last week on this earth. She loved to tease and was the
best teacher.
Throughout the years, she and dad owned several businesses
and was very involved in all aspects of the business. Most notably
Northrups Transmission and then building the Hillsborough Golf Course
(formally Burro Hills Golf Course). Mom spent many hours volunteering
at Salvation Army Nursing Home either sitting with residents or
leading them in worship or bible study. She had become a lay preacher
later in life and loved spreading the word. She was a member of
Trinity United Church and Sunday school teacher and a choir member for
many years.
She and dad loved their travelling years to Florida and
Texas, but were both more content being home with their family around
them.
She is survived by her children Ian (Linda), Shirley-Anne
(Randy) and Darren; grandchildren Adonica (Joe), their children Maddy,
Sophie, Maxime and Felix; Garett; Alysha (Ryan) and their children
Jack and May; Thomas; Jana (Scott) and their children Kelly (Spencer)
and Declan; Joshua; and Mia. She is also survived by her brother David
Acker (Nancy), Sisters-in-law Eva (Kit) Ogilvie and Libby Keddy; along
with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Hugh (2017); son Stephen
(1959); brother Beverly (2011); and son-in-law Camille
(1997).
Special thank you to Dr Catherine Jee, the extra-mural
nurses, Driscoll crescent, all the ladies that have helped along this
journey, and Randy for helping where ever he could.
Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society,
or a charity of the donor’s choice.
