Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Guy, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in his 58th year.
Guy was the cherished and loving father of Jolie. Beloved and devoted husband, of Judy, for 23 years. Guy is survived by his father Gerald Gagnon. Dear brother of Yves (Lana) Gagnon and Sylvie (Yvon) Lanteigne. Brother-in-law to Terry Ondusko (d. Joseph), John Ondusko (Barb), and Stephanie Ondusko. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Guy is predeceased by his mother Jeanine, mother-in-law Olga Ondusko, father-in-law Joseph Ondusko Sr., and brother-in-law Joseph Ondusko Jr.
Guy had spent his younger years in the Canadian Navy, before entering the grocery industry. It was when he moved to Bracebridge, he opened Independent Grocer where he owned and managed, along-side his wife Judy. They organized several in-store Christmas Day dinners, for those in the community who may have been without family during the holidays. Guy believed in giving back to his community and providing support for everyone.
Guy was proud to serve his community, in many ways, and was the proud recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award. He raised money to purchase a CT scanner, as an advocate for the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital. One project he was involved with was the community gardens which provided families and seniors, on fixed incomes, healthy living practices through gardening techniques. He was a long-time supporter of the Manna Food Bank and made may contributions to Special Olympics, the Muskoka Lions Club, and the Rotary Club. Guy was a fond member of the Rink Rats hockey team and volunteered at annual Loveable Losers tournaments, supporting the Interval House and the Muskoka Children’s Foundation.
Guy enjoyed a good game of golf but, most of all, spending time with his family meant the world to him. He will be beyond missed by his whole world, Jolie.
Cremation has taken place and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Guy may be made to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation or to the OSPCA – Bracebridge and may be arranged through Reynolds Funeral Home.
Messages of condolence and memories may be shared through www.reynoldsfuneral.com
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Guy Joseph Gagnon September 24 1964 March 15 2022 (age 57)..
Death notice for the town of: Bracebridge, Province: Ontario
Our most sincere sympathies to our great-niece Jolie and her dear mother Judy for the far too early departure of your loving and devoted dad and husband. Guy was the first nephew borne to the Gagnon family. He already leaves a big empty space in our families. Our sympathies also to all the members of the large Gagnon and Landry families as well as those of the Ondusko family. May Guy rest in peace. We wish everyone great courage in these difficult moments. We love you. Aunt Nicole Gagnon and Uncle Harold Martin
