Greta’s Obituary
Passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Friday June 24, 2022. Greta Merrifield (nee Verwey) of Markdale in her 94th year.
Wife of the late Raymond Merrifield and the late Cornelius Poelgeest.
Mother of Christina Merrifield (Cecil) of Sparwood, B.C., and Janet Meyers (Jim) of Mount Forest.
Grandmother of Kevin (Leslie), Karen (Nat), Troy, Wendy (Sven), Jeff (Mary), Jason (Carey) and Joey (Monica).
Great-grandmother of Sarah and Samantha; Jesse (Lindsay), Kris (Maria) and Kyle; Kaitlyn (Adam) and Darren; Brayden and Cheyenne; Claudia, Chloe, Shae, Seth and Sarissa; Colin and Luke (Christiny). Greta cherished her two great-great grandchildren Sullivan and Rachel
Sister of Nellie Day, Wilma Irvin, Janie Hammer, Gerrit Verwey and Willem Verwey. Survived by nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents Gerrit and Jaantje (Dekkers) Verwey, sister Jacoba Mueller, and brothers Peter & Gerrard Verwey.
A Funeral Service will be held at the May Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. A recording of the service will be posted on Greta’s web page. Interment in Shelburne Cemetery.
