Obituary of Gregory Paul Kelly
Gregory Kelly
Passed peacefully surrounded by his family on October 6, 2022 at the age of 82. Son of Francis Kelly and Grace Shanks, beloved husband of Christine Kelly (Cosgrove). Loving father of Sean (Mena), Father Kevin S.J., and predeceased by his son Paul. Cherished grandfather of Andrew, Kristina, Grace and Brigid. Greg’s was a life well lived. He grew up in Smiths Falls, and started his career in Ottawa as a lawyer with MacDonald Affleck, he began his practice in litigation and later specialized in medical litigation. He served on the Board of the Ottawa Hospital Riverside Campus and acted as legal counsel to the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. Greg was the recipient of the 2006 John P. Nelligan Award for Excellence in Advocacy. Greg was a devout Catholic, loved his time at the family farm on Black Lake, and especially his passion for cutting wood, that was unfortunately not passed along to his sons. Greg defined the importance of family and brought his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings together in planning family reunions over the years. His family was the most successful litigation of his life! Special thanks to all the staff at Lanark Lifestyles who lovingly cared for Greg for the past 2 years. The family appreciates the medical support of Dr. Neel Chadha over this time. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral home, 15 Gore St West, Perth, Ontario on Tuesday, October 11th, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. A private funeral mass will be held privately for the family. In memoriam donations to Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville would be appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gregory

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. Truly an amazing man of accomplishments, always remembering family 1st.
I was thankful, I played a small part the last week of Greg’s life. He expressed his enjoyment and appreciation of something I do daily. He was a lucky man to have his devoted wife, Chris. ❤

    Rest in Peace,
    Your Barber Laurie
