GREENWOOD Doreen Margaret “Deanie February 19 1931 — April 20 2022

GREENWOOD, Doreen Margaret “Deanie”
February 19, 1931 — April 20, 2022
With love and admiration, the family of Deanie Greenwood announce her passing on April 20, 2022. Born in Weirdale, Saskatchewan, Deanie moved to Vernon, BC at a young age. A lifelong Okanagan resident, Deanie settled in Kelowna, BC with her husband, Ian, and firstborn son in 1954.
Mom always said she was born to be a mother. Her nurturing, empathetic, and loving nature enabled her to excel at not only bringing up her three sons but supporting other family members and friends in need over the years. Mom kept very active with golf, sewing, hiking biking and travel. Having absorbed a love of flowers from her beloved mother-in-law, she maintained an outstanding garden and applied her natural creativity to a life-long passion for flower arranging. On top of a busy life of juggling parenting, business entertaining, and hobbies, Mom found time to give back to the community, volunteering in many capacities from Rotary to Brownies, the children’s ward at KGH, and many years at Hospice. A lifelong animal lover, Mom always had a dog or a cat at her side.
Her favourite memories were those of spending summers at the family cottage in Wilson’s Landing on Okanagan lake. She would load up her little car with the boys, pets, and supplies and travel to her rural oasis where the family would settle in for the summer. She created quite a reputation as the Wilson’s Landing fishing queen, often taking the prize in the annual community fishing derby.
Mom will be remembered for her honesty, her wisdom, and her never-ending dry sense of humour, none of which she lost until the day she passed. Predeceased by her brother Jimmy; her sister Helen; her husband Ian; and her son Glen; She leaves wonderful and enduring memories for her surviving family including her sons Bruce and Scott (Judy); grandchildren Ashley, Erin, Lauren, Brandon; and great-grandchildren Jordyn and Kaden.
Fly with the angels mom.
