Grant Dexter Thorpe
January 23rd, 1932-
It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Devoted husband for fifty five years to the late Marion Baston (2005).
Son of Guy Thorpe and Jeanetta (Greencorn) of Kentville, NS. Brother to Allen, Glen, Gordon, Kenneth, Bernice, Myrtle, Rita, Nina, all predeceased. Survived by sisters Leonna Greencorn of Nova Scotia and Sheila Cull of New Brunswick.
Grant came to Sudbury to work at INCO and met Marion- they married on December 23rd, 1950. He worked for INCO until his retirement in 1972. Loving father to Brenda Sandstrom (Harry), the late Grant Jr. (Pauline), the late Frederick, Katherine LaBrecque (Blair), Sandra Berlingeri (Greg), Darlene Dorion (Lionel).
Grant was endearingly known as Papa, or `Pa` to his nine beautiful grandchildren or `Old Pa` to ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Our father was a quiet gentle soul who left this world on his own terms, to die in his own bed at home with his daughter, Sandy, caring for him.
