Grant, Patricia ‘Pat’ (nee Alexander)
It is with heavy hearts and gratitude for her life, the Grant family announces that Patricia ‘Pat’ Grant passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at the Meaford Hospital on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the age of 85.
She was the much loved mother of Tim Grant of Meaford, Ellen Grant (Orran Krieger) of Boston, Cam Grant (Margie Regan) of Newmarket; and very special ‘Granny’ of John, Beth, Joel, Maya, Isaac and Kaela.
Pat is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Charles ‘Chuck/Charlie’ Grant and her brothers Robert ‘Bob’ and James ‘Jim’ Alexander.
Pat was a longtime resident of the Meaford, Thornbury and Collingwood area.
She enjoyed a long career first as an English teacher and then as a guidance counsellor/guidance department head at Collingwood High School. She cared deeply about the teenagers she counselled and kept in touch with many. She was passionate about the rights of the under-represented and promoting peace. She loved the outdoors and hiked the entire Bruce Trail. Most of all, she treasured time with family and making tarts at Christmas.

Mrs Grant changed my life. She was supportive and encouraged me through a challenging teenhood… I believe I am here today through the love and support of her encouragement. She was so proud when I went back to her in excitement at the completion of my degree. I lost touch with her but so happy to hear here life continued to challenges she loved with her family beside her. Rest In Peace Mrs Grant and thank you. ❤️🌹
