Grant Arthur Frizzell 1925 2022

With appreciation of a long, well-lived life, the family of
Grant Arthur Frizzell sadly announces that, after a lingering illness,
he passed away at home on February 3.
Grant was born March 9, 1925, in Waltham, Massachusetts, to
Canadian parents, the late Wilfrid and Annie (Grant) Frizzell. The
family returned to the Moncton area when he was five years
old.
While attending Moncton High School, he joined the cadets.
His heart’s desire was to join the military effort in Word
War II, but when he graduated from MHS, he was too young to join the
Canadian Forces, so he opted to go to the US and enlisted with the US
Army Air Force. He trained for numerous positions and was assigned as
a sharp shooter aerial gunner and aerial engineer. He was first posted
to submarine patrol in the Caribbean, and then was posted to San
Giovanni Air Base in Italy. He flew many missions in the
Europe-African-Middle East theatre and was awarded the Certificate of
Valor and the Bronze Star for his participation in the Air Campaign of
the Balkans, Air Campaign of Germany, the North Appenines Campaign,
and the Po Valley Campaign, from 1943 – 1945. He achieved the rank of
Staff Sergeant and was commended for successfully accomplishing 20
combat missions in Eastern Europe.
After the war, he returned to Moncton and bought his first
truck and his job took him to Alma where he met the love of his life,
Elsie Marie Hoar. They were married in Alma Baptist Church on June 1,
1949, and enjoyed 72 years walking life’s journey
together.
He had a strong work ethic and loved to make a deal. Just a
year ago he said, “I love to work and learn new things, and do my
very best. It’s important to work and save some money. I
even worked on the side while off duty overseas during the war, in
order to send money home. Mother saved it for me and that is how I was
able to start up in business after the war.” He was the owner of
Frizzell Bros. Construction which he ran successfully for over 40
years, and also established other successful businesses including
Codiac Construction, Codiac Helicopters, and G&G
Realty.
Grant was born again on January 5, 1975, led to the Lord by
his long-time best friend, Reginald Forbes. He was a member of
Emmanuel Baptist Church in Moncton. We are rejoicing in the hope of
seeing him again in heaven one day.
He is survived by his dear wife, Elsie Marie (Hoar), and his
family
Terry Grace Frizzell of Brownsville, Texas; Fraser Grant
Frizzell (Charlene) of Moncton; and Gilda Louise Garland (Douglas) of
Moncton; grandchildren William Morewood, Anthony Mosher (Kathryn) of
Fort Saskatchewan Alberta; Darla, Daniel, Farrah, Felicia and Marcus
Frizzell of Moncton; Vanessa (Daniel) Steeves of Moncton, and
Christian Garland (Monika) of Forest, Virginia, and three great
grandchildren Kayla and Ava Mosher of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, and
Reagan James Steeves of Moncton.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Lorne Wilfrid
Frizzell, and is son-in-law, William Charles Morewood.
