It is with grief and sadness we announce the sudden passing of Graham Tonks.
Graham was born and lived his entire life in Powell River. He leaves behind his loving wife Christina Peake, son Tristan Peake and daughter Gabriella Peake. He was so proud of them. Also left to mourn are his parents Brad and Lisa Tonks, sister Jessica Tonks (Allan Goodwin), mother-in-law Dena Milanese, grandparents Gordon and Joyce Tonks, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graham attended Max Cameron Secondary School and Brooks Secondary School, graduating in 2005. He was active in many sports as a child and teen. He played hockey in the Powell River minor hockey system and remained active in the PRMHA community. Graham’s favourite pastime and most recent favourite memory was fishing with his family this past summer.
He started working for the City of Powell River in 2006 as a labourer in the works yard, soon moved to the waterworks department and then to the treatment plant, where he held the role of Level 3 Treatment Operator. He was active with the union executive committee since 2012, becoming union president in 2016. This was a role he enjoyed very much and excelled at. Graham always stuck up for the underdog. Loyalty and integrity were very important to him.
Graham was a very good friend to many; his best friends Torey, Ian, Andy, Steven, Bryce and Cody will miss him so much. We could always count on his smiling face.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Powell River Salmon Foundation. A celebration of life will be held in the spring/summer of 2022.
