Peacefully at the Kings County Memorial Hospital, Montague on Thursday, September 1, 2022, the death occurred of Gordon Wayne Brake. He was aged 67 years of Souris, PE. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 38 years Cathy (nee Anderson) and will be lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law Marjorie Anderson, sisters-in-law Karen Anderson, Sheila Wolters (Dirk), Amanda Lawrence (Darcy), brothers-in-law David (Diane), Scott (Angela), Steven (Christina) and Adam Anderson (Melanie) and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by members of the Carter family whom he dearly loved Carol Sharkey (Joe), Dawn Rogers (Tucker), Thane Carter (Linda), Shane Carter and Shelley Rose (Guy).
Wayne was a valued member of the Souris Fire Department and devoted 40 years of his life serving others with this career. He will be remembered for his humor and kindness which was apparent when you met him. He loved fishing, fixing engines, collecting coins and any treasures people would give him. He had a great love for his family and will be deeply missed by all in the Town of Souris. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Marcella Brake, sister Anne, infant brother Peter, father-in-law Leo Anderson, nephews Cole Lawrence, Connor Taylor and niece Sabrana Anderson.
Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home where visiting hours will take place on Sunday, September 4, 2022 from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be held at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, September 5, 2022 at 11:00am with interment to follow in the church cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of Wayne can be made to the Souris Fire Department or the St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.
