SAUNDERS, GORDON H.
Peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, November 25th, 2022, Gord Saunders of Russell at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Mona Saunders (McLennan). Loving father of Janice (Dave Stewart) and Deanne (Bill Van Loon). Proud grandfather of Ashley and Mackenzie Stewart, Brandon and Bria Van Loon and Britney Casselman (Cody). Brother of the late Glenn Saunders (late Eleanor). Fondly remembered by the McLennan and Gutierrez families. Gord was the son of Harold & Amey Saunders and grew up on a farm at Prospect, Ontario. He began his career as a banker and was transferred to Russell as the bank manager. Later he was the office manager of a wholesale company, and at the time of his retirement he had been an insurance broker for more than 20 years. Gord loved the community of Russell and played an active role in many activities and events. He enjoyed golf and curling. Gord was a proud member of the Russell Lions Club for 53 years. He recently became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 372 in Russell. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 6971 Bank St. from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Friday, December 2. Funeral Saturday, December 3 to St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 139 Castor St., Russell for service at 11 am. If desired, memorial donations made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Box 699, Russell, ON K4R 1C7 or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 1701 Woodward Dr., Ottawa, ON K2C 2B5 would be appreciated.
