Gordon Reid Braaten Wednesday January 5th 2022

It is with great sadness the family of Gordon Reid Braaten, late of Birch Hills, SK announces his passing, surrounded by family on January 5th, 2022, at the age of 87 years. Dad was raised in the Fisher District, north of Birch Hills with his parents and older brother Allan. He enjoyed building things from a very young age. This continued through the years along with involvement in sports, dances in Birch Hills, and meeting the love of his life, Donna.
Mom and Dad spent many wonderful years in Prince Albert raising their children. Our home was filled with love and laughter even during tough times – Dad always had a kind and gentle way of supporting and guiding us, many times with a touch of humor. Dad worked at the Correctional Center teaching carpentry for over twenty years until his retirement in 1987. Soon after, Dad and Mom returned to his childhood farm and spend 34 years together making more precious memories. He spent countless hours in his shop building projects with his vast skills as a carpenter. He enjoyed watching all the farming activities on the land and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Dad had a deep love for animals and his dogs and horses played a very special role in his life.
Dad was first and foremost a family man, a devoted friend, and enjoyed every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were his pride and joy, and he was so proud of every one of them not just for their accomplishments but for the people they turned out to be.
Dad will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but his love, kindness, and endless sense of humor will live on in all our hearts.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Donna, his children Susan Boehm (Brian), Cathy Yungwirth (Francis), Tim Braaten (Lynn), Jeff Braaten (Alison), & Karen Braaten (Rex Selby); his grandchildren Jared Boehm (Moriah), Joelle Evans (Daniel), Jana Boehm (Gabriel Ferzli), Todd Yungwirth (Lisa) and Amy McCagherty (Sean), Reid Braaten, Grace Braaten, Benjamin Braaten, Brett Selby (Morgan) & Celine Selby (Wyatt Arndt) & his great-grandchildren Tyson, Scarlett, Jelena, Laura, Luke, Emily, Abigail, Jack, Nathan, Logan Gordon, Alexis, and Zeke.
Gordon is predeceased by his parents Agnes and Albert Braaten, his mother and father-in-law George and Kay Scaife, his brother Allan, his brothers-in-law Barry Scaife and Willard Turley, his sister-in-law Noreen Braaten, as well as many treasured friends.
