Gordon Long 2022

Gordon Elgin Long, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. He was 90.
Born on January 4, 1932, in Walkerville, Ontario, to the late Sydney and Ruby (nee Mantion) Long. Many may remember Gord from his days working as a stationary engineer, and also his work in refrigeration and air conditioning. Gordon was a man who cherished his wife Nancy, and loved his family dearly. He lived a full life and was modest over his accomplishments. He was a volunteer, and an actor who loved the theatre. He was a motorcyclist, college instructor, author, and an avid reader. He and his wife loved to dance in their youth. He enjoyed travelling, photography, and possessed a great sense of humor. Gord was a deeply spiritual man who inspired his family through his divine faith.
Survived by children Kathaleen Atkinson of Hanover, David Long of Toronto, Ruth (Bob) Dimarco of Brampton, Marie Fong of Hanover, Steven Long of Brampton, and Anita Long of Sutton. Missed by grandchildren Ryan Atkinson, Cassandra Atkinson, Krystal Long, Mary Long, Samantha Amanda, Christine Long, Justin Dart, and Kyle Dart, and several great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by sisters in-law June Pallin of Toronto, and Helen (Malcolm) Warner of Brampton, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.
As per Gord’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Public Memorial Service will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Saturday, June 18th, 2022, at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that anyone who wishes to do something in memory of Gord can do a good deed for a neighbour or someone in need, and pay it forward.
