Gordon’s Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Gordon LeRoux, on March 29th, 2022, in his 85th year, surrounded by many loved ones. He was pre-deceased by his parents John & Josephine (nee Rubia) LeRoux, brother Walter, niece Kimberly Doucette, mother & father in-law Stanley & Flora Bennett, sister-in-law Yvonne LeRoux (nee Bennett), and brother in-law Jerome.
He has left to mourn the love of his life, Bernadette (nee Bennett), to whom he was married for 58 years. She was his world, and he made a point to tell her everyday how beautiful she was & how lucky he was. My mother would agree…she was the lucky one. He also leaves: his “beautiful girls” that he was so proud of: Yvette, Odette, Colette (Don), Claudette (David) and his granddaughter Deanna (“What do you want pest?”) whom he raised as his own; and his beautiful grandchildren: Emily, Samone, Kendra, Katlyn, Kriston, Luke (finally got his boy), Nicole, LaRoux , and Chloé. He always had a little joke to tell them whenever he talked to them. Also remembering him with loving memories are: 16 great-grandchildren, with another one on the way; and his first great-great grandchild on the way; as well as: 11 siblings, a large circle of extended family, and many friends, whom he loved dearly and loved to chat with and visit. You would always hear him bellow “Hey my Buddy!” or “Hello sweetheart!”.
Gordon spent his younger years in the Canadian Guards & Army overseas and always fondly talked of his adventures with his brothers with pride and a big grin. He spoke of his adventures driving for the TTC in Toronto before he moved back to Newfoundland and eventually Labrador City where he raised his girls and worked at The Iron Ore Company of Canada until his retirement to Stephenville, NL in 2001. He was an avid member of Stephenville’s Legion and Ground Search & Rescue. Those who knew him would agree, he loved his western movies, classic country music, crossword puzzles, trying his luck at lotto, and a good game of cards! He recently lost his little buddy Hank, that we know is warming his lap now.
He would have been the first to tell you that he lived a charmed life. Only this gentle giant can fill this vast void and we will remember him forever.
In lieu of flowers please donate to your local Legion or Search and Rescue organization in his name.
Following his wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life & love will take place at the Stephenville Legion, on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022 at 2pm.
Thank you from the LeRoux family.
