Gord Lawrence Gudmundson
March 23, 1953 – October 20, 2022
Gordon Lawrence Gudmundson passed away at the age of 69 at Drumheller Hospital after a brave battle with cancer.
Gord is survived by his son Mark (Krista) grandsons Kayden and Evan and his son Ron. His brothers John, Tom, Rick, sister Sally, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Lawrence, and his sister Charlene.
In Gord’s 30 year career at Diamond Fireplace, he acquired many skills and was known to family and friends as the guy to ask if you needed something fixed and he would definitely have the right tool for the job. Gord had a big heart; he was always willing to go above and beyond to help anyone who asked with their home repairs.
Gords love of music began at a young age, he had a passion for playing his guitar, bass, the piano and harmonica, to name a few. Gord met many friends through his music and was always happiest playing with them at jams in the local area and regularly played at Grouch’s restaurant in Drumheller. He played in many different bands over the years, as well as Calgary Stampede breakfasts, fundraisers and local events around his home.
Later in life Gord enjoyed riding his motorcycles during many day trips with his good friends Carol and Lorrie. Gord always took immense pleasure in exploring new places, and the feel of the open road.
The family would like to thank his homecare staff, doctors, friends and others for their support throughout the last year in giving him comfort throughout his final journey. As he was truly a people person it meant a lot to him knowing that so many caring people were thinking of him despite the fact, he didn’t want anyone to worry. We are truly grateful to you all.
As per Gord’s wishes there will be no funeral service and a celebration of life will be organized at a later date.
