Gordon Joseph Parenteau January 31 1971February 13 2022

He was born Gordon Joseph Chartrand on Jan 31 1971, to Clifford “Porky” Parenteau and Florence Mary Chartrand. He was known as Gordy, Noel and nicknamed “Pot of Coffee.” He was the eldest child, followed by a 7 month stillborn brother, than Cameron (Longo) Parenteau in 1972, Janey-Joyce (Jeanne Longo) Parenteau in 1973.
Our mother Florence then had two more girls Debbie (Longo) Lacquette in 1975, and Sonya (Chaychuk) Lacquette in 1977.
There were also a few more miscarriages, including twin girls and a stillborn boy named David.
Clifford Parenteau had with Shirley Flett, 3 sons, Gordon Flett (1979), Adrian Flett (1980) and Mitchell Flett (1981).
Clifford Parenteau with Laura King had Clifford King (1985), Jana King (1988), Dakota King (1989) and Alphonse King (1990) and also have Jana’s son Hunter King (2007).
Gordy was raised at a very young age by his great Auntie Mabel (Houle) Mousseau, and then also by a Margaret (Bull) Campbell, and then was put into Children’s Aid.
Around 1975 he was adopted by Mr and Mrs Mayur Pavagadhi, former manager of the North Star Inn in Winnipeg (now known as the Radisson), and they travelled overseas and across the States. He was given the name of “Noel Pavagadhi.” The marriage dissolved and he was brought back into Children’s Aid around 1979. He lived in Foster Homes and Group Homes until he was 12 when he ran away. He lived on the streets, and eventually found a family to stay with Maureen Roulette-Catcheway and her family around 1986-1987.
In June of 1987, assisted by Social Worker Gene Robertson, one of the happiest times of his life was the reunion to his birth mother Florence Parenteau and her twin sister Rose Wood. Unfortunately, the happiness was short lived with the death of Florence on Nov 27, 1987. He went to stay in Skownan with his auntie Melva (Glen) Maud and family.
Eventually he came back to Winnipeg, worked at various factories and jobs. His last employment was working for a company where he picked up furniture in alleyways and discarded it. He enjoyed working.
He had some children in his relationships:
With Charlene Williams, he had Jana Williams (1991), Florence Williams (1993).
With Tracey Kakegamic, he had Noel Kakegamic (1995), and Gordon Kakegamic (1997).
With Edith Moore, he had Angel Moore (2003).
Then he was with the “LOVE OF HIS LIFE” Rena Trout for the next 12 years, starting in 2008. He was the stepfather to Vincent, Donnie, Trevor and Freddie Trout, and also with Angel, Serena, Sheldon and Daryl Catcheway.
He is survived by companion Melva Latendre.
