CONDOLENCES
It is with a heavy heart that our family announces that Gord passed away at his home at Gull
Lake, Alberta. Gord was born to Ted and Kathleen Cushing, in Calgary, Alberta, and grew up in
Bearspaw, Alberta. In 1979, he married his wife Beverly, and would be by her side for 32 years,
until 2011 when she passed away from a hard fight with breast cancer. He is survived by his 2
children, Shane (Heather) and Dawn (Joel), his grandchildren, Eden, Lilah, Mason and Molly,
and his sisters Lynda (John) and Maureen (Gerald).
Gord would work as an automobile mechanic for his whole career, retiring in 2013 from the
Municipal District of Rocky View. After retiring, he moved to “the lake” at the Summer Village of
Parkland Beach at Gull Lake, Ab. He would also enjoy most of the winter months in Sun City,
Phoenix, Arizona. Gord had a love for watching and playing sports. His favourites were hockey
(especially when he was “called up” to play for the Brew Kings) and golf in the later years. He
suffered from severe arthritis for many years, which he would fight against to keep golfing until
the end. He will be dearly missed, especially his high spirited, vibrant laugh.
We will be celebrating Gord’s life with a drop in coffee and tea, at the Country Hills Crematorium, on
Saturday, June 25th from 3pm-5pm
