Obituary
Glenn Steenburgh, 67, passed away peacefully at PRHC on November 6th, 2022 following a difficult year with cancer. He was the beloved wife and soulmate of Dr Nancy White. Glenn will be missed by his bother and sister-in- laws, Andy McGowan, Judy White, Lynn and Jeff Nicholls, and his nieces and nephews, Garett, Emily, Kari, Stacey, and Ryan as well as his mother and father-in-law Marlene and Harry (Bud) White. Glenn had many friends and he will be deeply missed in many circles. Predeceased by his mother, Doris Steenburgh, father, Chris Steenburgh and brother Grant.
Glenn graduated from Ryerson University in electrical engineering. He then worked for a biomedical engineering company in Toronto where he met Nancy. Upon moving to Clear Lake he managed a Sports Injury clinic and later became involved in emergency power generation. However, trading was always his passion and he spent countless hours monitoring stocks.
Glenn was known for his unwavering commitment to exercise, running, biking, swimming, no matter the weather. Glenn and Nancy loved to see the world and enjoyed adventure travel to many places off the beaten track. Following a trip to Uganda Glenn became passionate about supporting the Bwindi Hospital through volunteer work and fundraising. Through his devotion to the village he established many close relationships with the people of Bwindi.
We will always think of Glenn as so full of life and adventure, so quick to laugh and lend a helping hand. So fun at a party, so engaging to talk to about anything. He will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to Dr Sharif for his care and compassion through this complicated journey and to the staff and physicians of PRHC’s Cancer Care, Emergency Department, B3 and D2. I would also like to express my gratitude to all of our friends and family for their ongoing support and kindness during this challenging time.
In gratitude to the hospital, donations may be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. As well, the Kellermann Foundation can receive donations which will be directed to the Bwindi Hospital.
