Obituary of Glen Aubrey Newman
Glen Aubrey Newman passed away Monday April 18, 2022 at the Carmelite House, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. He was 49 years old. Predeceased by his father Samuel Aubrey Newman, grandparents Leonard & Julia Newman, Archibald & Violet Rowsell, great-niece Abigail VioletSquires. Left to mourn are his loving mother Violet Audrey Newman, brothers Leonard (Kim), Corbett (Janis), Murdock (Leona) and Melvin, sisters Violet(Dean), Nellie (Steven), Eileen (Dondi) Keough and Rhonda (Howard). Also leaving to mourn a large circle of nieces and nephews and a largcircle of extended family and friends.
Glenn was born July 17, 1972 in Botwood, NL to Samuel and Audrey Newman. He was the youngest of nine children. Glenn was the baby ofthe family and was so well loved and got lots of extra attention from his brothers and sisters which they so freely loved to give. He grew up in Leading Tickles and attended high school in Point Leamington and when he finished high school, he went to Ontario to work and decided to comehome and attend college. Glenn had high hopes, dreams, plans and endless potential for his future. Glenn was a beautiful soul inside and out. He greeted everyone he knew and didn’t know, with a beautiful smile. He loved old people and little ones alike. He so loved his nieces and nephews and they so loved him. Glenn was a very outgoing and people person who enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved music, sports and motorcycling. Glenn loved spending time with his siblings and his parents. He would come home on the weekends and take his mom and dad on outings which they so looked forward to and enjoyed. He was a best friend to all of his brothers and sisters. He was an absolute joy to be around. Glenn was 21 years old attending The Community College in Springdale, NL, and was one of the top students in his class and had just completed a linesman course. He was to start on the job training with Newfoundland Power in Gander the following Monday. He was out celebrating the end of the school year by going to a barbeque with his teachers and classmates. While walking home that night he was struck down by an impaired driver. That day his life was forever changed, as was his family’s. He will be and has been so missed by all who knew him. Glenn has spent the last 28 years in hospital and the last 17 of those in the Carmelite House, Grand Falls-Windsor, where he was greatly loved and cared for. He became like family to them. Special thank you to all of the staff at the Caremlite House who cared for him.
The family would like to thank all who visited Glenn during his time the last 28 years and helped the family in so many ways from the very beginning. So many friends have crossed our path over the years too endless to mention.
Rev. Cindy Graham will conduct the funeral services at St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Leading Tickles, NL, Thursday April 21, 2022 at 2:00pm. Interment will be held at the Anglican Cemetery. Pallbearers: Brothers, Leonard, Corbett, Murdock and Melvin, Nephew, Roger Newman, Brother-in-law, Howard Peddle. Honorary Pallbearer: Nephew and Godson, Patrick Noseworthy.
