Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gladys Rose Petley-Hawkins which occurred on Wednesday, September 21st at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born 1943, in Minto, NB, she is the daughter of the late Guy A. and Lenore W. (Rankin) Petley. Gladys enjoyed bowling, cards, crib, sewing and knitting. She loved to travel and she was an avid gardener. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Gladys is survived by her loving and devoted husband Floyd E. Hawkins of 40 years; sons Anthony and Wayne (Patty) Watson of Saint John, Todd (Suzie) Watson of Foxboro, MA; daughter Katherine of Saint John; grandchildren Doug, Shyla (Tommy), Annie, Destiny (Dustin), Dylan, Tommy and Ryan; great grandchildren Lexus, Michael, Jace, Dominic, Bane and Skylar; brothers Ronald and Joseph Petley; sisters Lanore Tubb and Margaret Crawley (Bob); as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her brothers Arnold, Gerald, Donald and Paul and sisters Evelyn, Althea, Muriel and Jean.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). As per Gladys’ wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private interment will take place at Hawkins Corner Cemetery at a later date. At the request of Gladys, only her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will attend her graveside service.
Donations in Gladys’ memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Gladys’ family wishes to thank all of the medical staff of the heart unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital. They were “wonderful”.
