GLADYS MARIE ECKER
November 3, 1942 – June 2, 2022
Peacefully, at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Thursday June 2, 2022, Gladys Marie Ecker (nee Long) of Tillsonburg passed away in her 80th year. Gladys was a long-time resident of Tillsonburg and well-known throughout the community. She spent her earlier years working in tobacco, babysitting, and raising her son and daughter independently. Gladys will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humour, kind-heart, love for her family, her love of flowers, and passion for walking. Gladys enjoyed music jamborees, dancing, reading, crossword puzzles, BINGO, sitting outside, visiting family and friends, and going for drives with her son. She was the best mother to her son, Robert (Bobby) and daughter, Kelly and her two cats, Mossie and Gomar. Nana to Christy, Amber (Jason), Britney (Kevin). Great-Nana/Mema to Brooklynn, Landen, Logan, Gavin and Sophia. She will be dearly missed by her youngest sister Edna (Red) Telford of St. Williams, sister-in-law Dale Long, many nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews, and many friends. Gladys is predeceased by her parents, Percy Ray Long and Mary Pearl Long, her sibling, Francis Evans (George), Percy Long and Jim Long (Vi). As with Gladys’s wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A special and sincere thank you to Dr. Roth and staff, TDMH Intensive Care Unit for taking such wonderful care of Gladys, as well as Ostrander’s Funeral Home for taking care of all arrangements on behalf of the family.
