Gladys Catherine Goldrick (Halls)
December 31, 1929 – January 28, 2022
Gladys was the youngest of four children. Her siblings were Bill, Bob and Marguerite.
Mother was born 92 years ago in Preston and raised her family in Hespeler for 70 years.
She married and was loved by Arthur Goldrick.
She was the proud Mother to her seven children: Wayne, Craig, Lynda, Bob, Karen, Keith and Diane.
Mother-in-law to Karen Goldrick, Larry Brainard and Paul Vautour. Very proud Nanny/Nan to Malissa, Lena, Jiles/Marsha, Michael, David, Joey, Brian/Julie, Jenni/Josh, Wayne, Aaron/Kathy, Adam and Sarah. Great Nanny/Nan to Skylar, Lyric, Craig, Maggie, Sam, Kate/Aaron, Emma, Ethan, Dallas and Paisley.
Mother was a happy, humming housewife who enjoyed raising a busy bunch of kids but still opened her doors to help raise six other children who needed a home at different times. When widowed at 49 she found employment as a Red Cross Homemaker which she thoroughly enjoyed, until a forced age requirement had her retire at age 66. Unable to keep a good woman down she eagerly accepted to be a Nanny to three special families for many years. She coached Girl’s baseball teams and in her senior years she enjoyed roller skating at the Forum well into her mid 70’s. Her favourite things to do were shopping, playing TV Bingo with Bob on Wednesday nights, camping, beach life and travelling. She loved all her dogs through those years, especially her little dog Buddy. But above all, she treasured spending time with her family. Her favourite flowers were Gladiolas.
Mother attended Hespeler Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she loved singing in the choir and eagerly serving in Nursery or Toddler’s Sunday School Class. While living independently at St. Luke’s Place she would be found busy wheeling other residents to Chapel every Friday morning. A very special thanks to the staff at St. Luke’s where she called home and enjoyed her wonderful friends.
Mother had lived a full and wonderful life… yet not without many hardships.
Her husband died at age 50… her son Wayne age 19, her grandson Michael age 17, her son Keith age 36 and then her daughter Lynda age 56.
In spite of all these heart breaking trials she never grew bitter or complained about these deep losses because she found her daily strength and joy in God and in her Saviour Christ Jesus. It was her firm foundation.
The Lord had taught her to say… “It is well with my soul”
Mother will be forever loved!
