February 3, 1942 – December 14, 2022
Gillian was born in Kent, England during World War II. At the age of 7, she emigrated to Canada and first settled with her parents in King City, Ontario. Her early years in Canada were spent living at Eaton Hall (Lady Eaton’s estate) where she first learned to ride horses. At age 10, Gillian and her parents moved to Port Credit, Ontario where she lived until her marriage in 1962. Gillian went on to have her first child, Geoffrey in 1969 in Toronto, before returning to England (London) in time to give birth to her daughter, Sara, in 1971. In 1980, Gillian and family moved to Glencoe, Illinois (North Shore of Chicago) where she finished raising her two children. In 1990, Gillian returned to Port Credit to care for her then aging mother until her demise in 2005.
In 2008, Gillian relocated to Port Colborne, Ontario and operated Kent House Bed and Breakfast until retiring in 2012. For the past decade, Gillian has enjoyed her quiet life in Port Colborne and the many close friendships that have brought her much joy and comfort.
Gillian leaves behind her two children, Geoff and Sara (Jason), her four grandchildren (Nellie, Noa, Rachel, and Ewan) as well as her Golden Retriever (Daisy) and her two cats (Mookie and Marley).
Gillian passed away peacefully at her home following a recent cancer diagnosis. A celebration of Life will be held at the Guild Hall in Port Colborne, Ontario on Saturday February 4th, 2023 from 2pm – 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, it was Gillian’s wish that donations be made to the SPCA and the Humane Society.
