Gilbert W. Egan
1940-2022
Gilbert William Egan, our very dear and adored husband and
father, cherished Poppy, caring brother and friend, has gone to his
heavenly resting place. He passed away at the Prince Edward Home on
Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the age of 81 years. Born in Charlottetown
on November 9, 1940, he was the son of the late Fred and Dolly
(Gaudet) Egan.
Loving husband of 58 years to his devoted wife Estelle
(Coady), father of Paul (Carol), Sherri Hogan (Dan), and Michael
(Penny). Poppy to Thomas Hogan, Patrick, Connor and Kyla Egan, and his
spoiled dog Willy. Brother to Janet (Doug) Shore and Judy Langille.
Loving Uncle to Shannon, Lori, and Nathan Barkhouse; Heather and Derek
Harvie.
Predeceased by his siblings Lynda Barkhouse, Fr. Paul Egan,
brothers-in-law Dr. Rollie Langille and Adrian Barkhouse. Son in law
of the late Leo and Ella Coady.
Dad loved family and that love extended far beyond Estelle,
his children, his grandchildren and his faithful four legged friends.
That love included his siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins,
friends, co-workers, and neighbors, as well as the many children that
were welcomed into our home for childcare. They were all part of our
family.
Resting at the Hennessy Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home,
for visitation Thursday, April 28 from 2 to 5 pm. Funeral Mass at The
Church of Most Holy Redeemer, Friday, April 29 at 1030 a.m. with
interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery immediately
following.
Given Dad’s journey with dementia, and his love of
animal’s, memorial contributions may be made to the
Alzheimer Society of PEI, or to the PEI Humane Society.
