After a tough battle we had to say goodbye to our loving dad and poppa. Gideon is survived by the love of his life Mary, his loving children Beverly, Todd (Laura) Sheryl (Brad). His Grandchildren Christine( Leo) Jessica (Austin) Jeffrey, Tyler (Katherine) Josh (Samantha) Richie and Hannah. His great grandchildren Jayden, Charlotte, Emma, Zayn, Delilah and Lincoln. His brothers and sisters here in Ontario and in Newfoundland, many nieces, nephew’s and cousins who he kept in touch with daily with his tech savvy facebook or texting. Gideon moved from Newfoundland to Ontario in 1969 where he retired from General Motors after 23 years as fork lift operator.Gid was a proud Newfoundlander and was the most kind, sweet, gentle but strong man. His family meant everything to him.
Dad is resting at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street St. Catharines. Visitation is Thursday, April 21 from 2-4p.m. & 6-8p.m. Funeral Service to take place Friday, April 22 at 11a,m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charities closest to Dad’s heart. The Alzheimer’s Society or The Canadian Cancer Society.
