Mr. Giacomo Raponi
March 29, 1929 – January 18, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Giacomo. He died peacefully on January 18, 2016, surrounded by his son Angelo and his daughter Maria, just shy of his 87th birthday.
He was the loving husband to Rosa (predeceased 1980) and beloved father to Giovanni, Maria (Giulio), and Angelo. He will be sorely missed by his brothers Valentino, Giuseppe, Mario, Gerardo (predeceased), and his sisters Nicolina (predeceased) and Concetta.
Born in Italy, Monte San Giovanni Camp (Fr) to Concetta and Antonio Raponi (both predeceased). He married Rosa in 1953. He and his wife emigrated in 1955 to Canada, joining there with Rosa’s brother, Ercole (predeceased). Giacomo and Rosa raised their family and built their home in Toronto, Canada, where Giacomo, (better known as JACK to family & friends), worked at Belmont Property Management, Gates of Bayview (Bayview & 401) for over 40 years. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by his family and was the deeply loved ‘’Nonno’’ to his grandson, Salvatore. He held true to a simple philosophy grounded upon love and family. He had a deep faith in God. He was a lover of Animals. He had a dog, and cat and raised chickens and rabbits. He enjoyed watching videos of The Three Stooges with his grandson, Salvatore, and playing cards (scopa) with his daughter Maria. He was an incredible gardener and winemaker. He was our family’s strength and glue and he will be sorely missed by his numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him Lovingly remembered and missed beyond words.
