PELCOWITZ, Gertie – It is with great sadness that the family of Gertie Pelcowitz announces her passing on Saturday, February 19, 2022. Gertie Pelcowitz, nee Gida Kalendar, beloved wife of the late Max Pelcowitz and the late Michael Fox. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Howard and Shirley Fox, David and Audrey Pelcowitz, Robert Pelcowitz and Stephanie Caplan, the late Joseph Fox, and the late Sandra Pelcowitz. Treasured sister of Bernice and Howard Berman, and Max and Jan Kalendar. Cherished Bubbie of Kyle and Lindsay Fox, Brandon and Taylor Fox, Russell Fox and Jessica Therrien, Matthew Pelcowitz, Sam Pelcowitz and Taylor Dayton, and Ilana Pelcowitz. Devoted Aunt to Michelle and Terry Wexler, Wayne Berman, Cherise Berman and John Bonin, and Barb Myers. Dearest Friend of Bernice Levin and Sylvia Kesten.
Born in 1934 to Goldie and Kiva Kalendar, Gertie married Michael very young and was widowed at 24 with two young children. Shortly after, she met Max, her life partner of 30 years. Despite many hardships throughout her life, Gertie always had a positive outlook and was a shining light in any room.
A Family graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 in the Judean Benevolent Society section of Roselawn Cemetery.
