The family of the late Germaine Bennett of Centreville, NB wish to announce her death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on February 3, 2022.
Germaine was born in Drummond, New Brunswick on February 22, 1930 to the late Eugene and Mary Gagnon. After her marriage to Mark Bennett in 1950, they lived in Victoria and Carleton Counties for their entire lives together.
For many years, Germaine ran a small furniture upholstering business in Centreville, New Brunswick and was known throughout the province for the exceptional quality of her work. Germaine was an active community volunteer, a passionate gardener, and a devoted parishioner at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Florenceville, N.B. She especially enjoyed the Christmas season and was always proud of their spectacularly decorated home and the community awards she received. During the era when potatoes were picked by hand, there were very few who could match her work ethic and productivity in a potato field!!
Germaine is survived by her children Stephen (Kathy) Bennett, Daniel (Sandra) Bennett, Barbara (Leonard) Brewer, David (Patricia) Bennett and Paula (John) Bennett, along with 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Jean, Rose, Rena, Marie, Nelson and Dorothy.
Germaine was predeceased recently by Mark Bennett, her husband of 71 years. She is also predeceased by her parents and her siblings Andrew, Bertrand (Yvette), and Noel (Teresa).
Germaine’s children would like to thank the staff at Paradise Villa, Fredericton, N.B. for the care and comfort they provided our Mom during the last 18 months.
There will be no visitation. A joint Celebration of Life (for both Germaine and Mark) and a funeral mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Leo’s Church in Florenceville, N.B. on Friday, May 27 at 11AM.
Memorial donations may be made to the River Valley Cancer Support Group Inc., PO Box 854, Hartland, NB, or to a charity of choice.
