Gerhard Lorenz Seidel 2022

Gerhard’s Obituary
SEIDEL, Gerhard Lorenz – 71 of Berwick West, formerly of Mt. Hanley passed away after a long undiagnosed sickness on Friday, June 17, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Bavaria, Germany, he was a son of the late Hermann and Franziska (Keissler) Seidel. Gerhard in his early years was well known as a banker. After a few years in this profession, he and his wife decided to leave the country to have a freer life and to spend more family time. He lived in Alberta for many years and cherished the times working on the farm with animals together with his sons Thomas & Andreas. In 2007 the whole family decided to move across the country to Nova Scotia where Gerhard semi-retired in the Middleton area. Gerhard had many interests and passions, some of which were: picking berries and wild mushrooms, fishing and cutting firewood for the family. Good food and a cold Bavarian beer is what he greatly enjoyed. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Gertrud; sons Thomas (Riwana) Seidel, Mount Hanley; Andreas Seidel (Melissa Metzner), Middleton; grandchildren, Melody, Berwick; Karl, Patrick, Selina, Gabriel, India, Zoe Metzner; brother, Werner (Ingrid) Seidel, Germany; Gertrude’s sister, Christa Lang, Germany; Gabriel and India’s mother, Alexandra Theile, Margaretsville. Memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Friday, June 24, 2022 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Rev. Deacon Don Boudreau officiating. A reception will follow the service. Donations in memory may be made to the Autism Society of Nova Scotia. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
