Obituary
Gérard Laforest was a loving, joyful husband, father, grand-father, brother and friend. He was well known by his hearty contagious laugh. He died peacefully on October 3rd, 2022.
Gérard was the cherished soul mate to Françoise Laforest for 65 years (née Messier) predeceased. Loving Father to Michel (Teresa) of Verona, Diane (Kevin) Maloney of Bradford, Maurice (Denise) of French River, and Jeanne (David) Turgeon of Wahnapitae. Adored Pepère to Paul (Jen), Shauna (Joey), Renée Lynn (Chad), Mathew (Amanda), Dominique (Will), Joël (Andrea), Gabrielle (Justin), Amylee (Ricky), Chantal (Andrew), Adam (Amber), Lee (Halley). Cherished big Pepère to Lil David, Grayson, James, Samantha. He was the fond brother to Léo (Annette), André (Madelaine) both predeceased, Alfred (predeceased) Betty, and Richard (predeceased) Carol. He will live in the hearts of his many brother in laws and sister in laws. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Gérard worked at Falconbridge Nickel Mines Ltd for 36 years before taking his well-deserved retirement. He enjoyed spending time tinkering in his garage. He also loved to keep his grass cut and well detailed. During Spring Break, he could be found entertaining the grand-kids and some of their friends with rides on the Ski-doo or the 4 wheeler “Vroom vroom Pepère”. Making hotdogs on an open fire and potatoes on the stove in the garage. A funeral service will be held on October 15, 2022 at St-Dominique Catholic Church, 1241 Dianes Street, Sudbury, On P3A 4H4. Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
