It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of our beloved partner, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Gerry Prins, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.

His brothers and sisters, Bob (Sharon) Prins, Judy (Jon) Merritt, Eileen Ebbers, Reg (Toula) Prins, Iris (Shaun) Gibson, and Susan (Miles) Murray. Grandchildren Kristina Prins (Jaroll Rice), Shawn Prins, Celina Dubois (Kory Jurski), Brittany Shalagan (Max) and Haley Shalagan, Logan, Willow and Teanna Prins, Penny and Ike Passmore. Great, great, grandchildren Zoe and Winter Jurski, Jag and Jade Rice. Close to his heart, Anita, Brandon, Brianna, and William Vipond.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Gerry grew up on Humberstone Farm. As a young man, he continued to farm potatoes. The farm eventually relocated to Gibbons Alberta in 1966. Gerry raised his family and farmed there until his retirement in the 1990s. He then started the next chapter of his life. He travelled the world and played golf, making lifelong friends everywhere he went.
In 2000, Gerry moved and settled in Peachland, BC, where he shared his love of motorcycling with many good friends. He joined the Peachland Fire Department, where his service and mentorship were valued for 15 years.
In 2003, Gerry met his loving partner, Chris. They shared many adventures together, making lasting memories.
Gerry loved life every day, spending many an afternoon sharing a cold IPA with anyone who stopped by. He was loved by many and will be missed by all, leaving a large void in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family residence on August 14th, 2022, starting at 11 am. Everyone is welcome to come and share a memory of Gerry. For information regarding the location of the Celebration, please contact Providence Funeral Homes (250-493-1774) or the family.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gerald John Prins February 25 1945 July 30 2022 (age 77)..
