Gerald Douglas Passingham “Gerry” passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Sunday August 28, 2022. He was born Sept 1,1941. Beloved husband and best friend of Carolann (Bedford) of 35 years. Loving father of Deanna Foley (Darryl); Julie Jenkins; Tim Passingham (Dawn); Steven Passingham (Natashia) and Jeremy Passingham. Grandfather of Aaron, Allison (Josh), Autumn, Amberley (Rob), Adam, Tyson, Tarin, Calix, Ryleigh and Kayleigh. Great-grandfather of Penny. Loving brother and brother-in-law of Annie Frayne and Birt (Cathy) Passingham, Eleanore Passingham and Diane Passingham. Brother-in-law of Cathy Mead, Jamie Bedford and Chrissy and Kevin Shaw. Loved Uncle of Trevor, Terri (Jordan), Jessica, Zachary, Chloe and Leonie. Great-uncle of Mia, Evan, Carson and Landon. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Mary (Prince) Passingham; son-in-law Ray Jenkins brothers and sister-in-laws Ted (Joyce), Bill (Lucille and Rose) Bob, and Wayne. Sisters and brother-in-laws Mary Isabella, Lorne Frayne, June (Wayne) White, and Christina (Morris) Yacks. His in-laws James A and Beverly Bedford, Cindy and Pat Burton and James Mead. Gerry spent three years serving in the Canadian Navy. He worked many years at Imperial Oil as a truck driver. Gerry also spent 15 years as a driver for Progressive Auto Sales, and was known as a walking road map.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday August 31, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Cremation to follow. A private family graveside will be held at a later date. Memorial donations made in memory of Gerry to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals or MCBN (Make Children Better Now) would be appreciated (cheques only at the funeral home please).
