George Ralph LeVasseur 1949 2022

Obituary of George Ralph LeVasseur
The family of George Ralph LeVasseur, of Geary, New Brunswick, sadly shares that he passed away on December 18, 2022, after a cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
George was born on August 2, 1949, to Ralph and Doris (Ganong) LeVasseur in Saint John, New Brunswick. He grew up in Hampton, NB, near the railway station, which likely started his fascination with trains. He dreamed of becoming a soldier from a young age and joined the military as soon as he could. He was a proud veteran.
In 1971, George met Theresa (Corcoran) and they wed in 1973, going on to have two children, Michelle (Stairs) and Christina (Armstrong). He was always involved in his children’s activities when they were growing up, including Girl Guides. He enjoyed sharing new experiences and teaching new skills to his grandchildren. He was very proud of all of their accomplishments.
George enjoyed photography and woodworking. He loved to spend time in his workshop creating things for everyone to enjoy. Christmas was his favourite time of year! He constructed a very elaborate and detailed Christmas Village and loved to share this with his family, friends and community. He was very friendly and loved to meet new people and tell stories.
George is lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Theresa; daughters, Michelle (Albert) and Christina (Kevin); grandchildren, Ethan, Kayleigh, Matthew and Andrew; sister, Jean (Kevin) and brother, Bill (Beverly). He was predeceased by his father, Ralph, mother, Doris and sister, Betty.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for him over the past few months at the Saint John Regional Oncology Department and at the DECH.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Oromocto Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 3-6 pm at the Oromocto Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel at 1 pm, with a reception to follow. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
